Personal Philosophy:
“The first and simplest emotion which we discover in the human mind is curiosity”. (Burke) When we are allowed to think outside the box, we discover infinite possibilities without constraint.
Determination goes hand in hand with curiosity. I find myself being a very determined individual, both in my personal and professional life. When I set my mind to something, I get it done through resolve.
Another important part of life is organization. If you are organized, you most likely will have less stress and can concentrate on the important tasks in front of you.

Educational Philosophy:
I feel that every child deserves an education and that despite what differences they have, they can be successful. As an educator, I have seen the spectrum of students and even parents. It has allotted me the ability to understand the different backgrounds of my students and how to handle different situations.
I strive to first build relationships with my students, parents, and other educators. Relationships are the key to a successful learning milieu that enriches not only the student, but their education. I have seen first hand how a proper relationship with a student can not only increase a student’s grades, but they can also increase self confidence in their learning environment.
If I were to create a mission and a vision for my ideal school I would want them to sound something like this;
Vision:
Jaguars…
Set goals
Are determined
Grow academically
Challenge themselves and others
Seek excellence
Mission:
Joseph P. Calhoun Middle School seeks to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success. Our school promotes a safe, orderly, caring, and supportive academic setting. Each student is fostered by positive relationships with each other, as well as staff. We aim to have our parents, teachers, and community members actively involved in our students’ education.
