Action Research Plan Outline
I believe the work that I have already completed for my innovation plan has opened my eyes to a bigger picture of how ePortfolios could become a catalyst for student success. ePortfolios would allow students to see themselves through their work. It has the possibility to build their emotional learning as it makes them more victorious academically. My innovation plan has a direct link to what I believe will be a great topic for my continued research on ePortfolios.

The Topic of my Research
My innovation strategy will continue to focus on how ePortfolios may help students be more successful both academically, but also in a social and emotional capacity. I want to show that ePortfolios are a valuable tool that can be used throughout a student's academic career to help them succeed and learn from self-reflection.
Purpose of my Research
Students can use an eportfolio as a digital forum to reflect on the work they do and create. Students frequently struggle to relate what they are studying now to how it will help them achieve success. An eportfolio may also be able to close the gap in learning engagement. The action research will be used to determine if eportfolios connect learning to being more successful in middle school (and beyond).
Fundamental Research Question
How might students' learning be linked to their perceived achievement using eportfolios in middle school classes?
Research Design
A mixed-method data collection is the best alternative for my research results. At the same time, I'd want to gather and compare both types of data. I believe that pulling qualitative data first is necessary to help build the students’ confidence, social/emotional learning, and allow for them to grasp the fundamental concepts of an ePortfolio. Collecting data from the actual assignments they complete while continuing to pull the qualitative data, will solidify that the ePortfolios are a success and will continue to be fruitful in the future. Using surveys, questionnaires, and conferences are tools that will collect data needed for research needed.
The literature review will focus on student success through the use of ePortfolios in the middle school arena. It will be specifically linked to the idea that students will gain a better social and emotional grasp on their academics through the use of the ePortfolio.
