My Growth Mindset Plan
Growth mindset allows for someone to grow and learn in a way that they are not capable of when they have a fixed mindset. When you have a growth mindset you are able to learn from mistakes and receive feedback in a way that allows you to adjust your thinking in order to be more successful. People with a growth mindset learn from the process and not the outcome. They learn from being praised and given feedback during that process and this makes them grow exponentially in areas that they may not have been able to before.
I would like to create a short series of mini-lessons on growth mindset to help my students discover what mindset they have when it comes to learning in general. I will go over the four steps (effort, challenges, mistakes, and feedback) with them. I believe an introductory lesson, followed by a lesson for each step will be a great way to show my students and fellow educators the power of having a growth mindset and owning your fixed mindset tendencies.
As stated above, I will incorporate the power of “yet” into the mini-lessons and in everyday conversations. I will be mindful of how I am giving feedback to my students, as well as my colleagues.
Power of Yet (YouTube video) Mindset Works (The science behind growth mindset) Mindset Kit (Lesson for Middle Schoolers from Khan Academy and Perts) **will add other ideas as my lessons are created
My plan is to promote it on a daily basis through the power of my conversations with others. The introduction and mini-lessons will be monthly, or possibly bi-monthly.

I believe that a growth mindset will impact how I approach my work in this course because it seems to be a very open concept of how we complete our assignments. As the instructor, you have already allowed for the input of the students to guide some of the products that we are allowed to create. I like the idea that you want work to be turned in on time, but will allow for growth through feedback and for an assignment to be resubmitted.
In the Digital Learning and Leading program I see some of the same concepts occurring based on the last class that I took and from the conversations we have already had in this class. We are being taught to complete things in a way that we would want our students to complete and follow based on the ideas of what we are learning.
